The call
After 8 years I still had a contract with the army, so in June 2000 I got a call from my personal officer.
The King’s artillery regiment (KAR) needed help :-)
They should run a camp for SFOR Nordic-Polish brigade in Doboj, Bosnia, there where approximately 300-400 soldiers in the camp.
Running the camp includes all communication inside and outside the camp, maintaining the buildings and all fences, office clerks and feeding the soldiers 3 times daily, taking care of the taxi-service.
The job they offered me was kitchen chief
“I don’t know anything about cooking, I can’t even boil a egg” I said
“Don’t worry, you don’t have to cook, you just direct and allocate the work” was the answer I got.
Okay why not!!!
