TODAY

Mean while, Read the early years!!!

Meeting the guys

In January we all meet in Sjælsmark where KAR have ther camp.

It was great finely to meet the two cooks and the waiter, I was also suppose to get a baker in the group, but he was in Kosovo on another mission, so he would join us later.

Let me tell a little about the guys.

Peter Prahl:
Professional cook, 5 years older than me, never been in the army, but working in a Danish base just outside Copenhagen.
Prahl have a wife and two small girls, they live just outside Elsinore (Helsingør).

Per Jensen:
The grand old man
;-) Per is 8 years older than me, also a professional cook and never been in the army too. He and his wife live in Copenhagen.

Søren Ib Andreas Jensen:
Just known as SIA. He recently finished his basic training in the army, serving in KAR. Before joining the army, he was a skilled waiter.

Efter a hair cut they startet to look like real solders ;-)

They where both very exited about all the army stuff since it was all new for them ;-)

Training

Before the mission there was a lot we had to learn or refresh....

We learned about fire fighting.

Some weapon training.

Also with all the different weapons we could run into in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)

Then we had Riot control, where we trained what to do if we should be send into a demonstration that went out of control.

I was in the kitchen, learning how to order groceries and planning the work in a kitchen, I tried to help the cooks in the kitchen....

But I think they learned very fast, that it would be best to keep me out of the kitchen

Per tried to teach me how to carry more than one plate in each hand.

Our Captain Salbro came by the kitchen, to see how it went.

At the end of the training there was a banquet for everybody in team 13.
It was our chance to prove that we could in fact prepare a delicious meal.

It was our first success, but not the last :-)

Trine

A month after Trine turned 6 she had a cerebral haemorrhage, we spend long time at the hospital but after a ton of tests she was discharged.
Fortunately it was NOT necessary to open her s head to operate. Today she have no means.

The call

After 8 years I still had a contract with the army, so in June 2000 I got a call from my personal officer.
The King’s artillery regiment (KAR) needed help :-)
They should run a camp for SFOR Nordic-Polish brigade in Doboj, Bosnia, there where approximately 300-400 soldiers in the camp.
Running the camp includes all communication inside and outside the camp, maintaining the buildings and all fences, office clerks and feeding the soldiers 3 times daily, taking care of the taxi-service.
The job they offered me was kitchen chief
“I don’t know anything about cooking, I can’t even boil a egg” I said
“Don’t worry, you don’t have to cook, you just direct and allocate the work” was the answer I got.

Okay why not!!!

Hair cut

My hair was getting a little long..
Fortunately I had two helpers ;-)

2 x 30

I 2000 Lise and I both turned 30, so we decided, to have one big party.

I build a bar and a couple of salon doors and then we invited all our friends and closest family to a western party.

Everybody was there….
Cowboys and Mexicans.

Hustlers and Indians

We even had a old squaw and a hillbilly

And offcourse COWGIRLS!!!

Here I am between my wife and my sister....

There where spareribs…

And chilli

Big glasses...

And small glases

Tequila

But the only right way to drink Tequila…
Body Tequila

We had a lot of Tequila

Maybe to much.....

Great party

If the Mexicans wasn’t drinking

or hitting on my sister

they where sleeping in the corner…

It was a great party...

I haven't had this much fun in a longtime...
